Your child already knows 1 to 10, so what comes next? In this free tracing activity, children follow the dotted lines to write the numbers 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 with a finger on the screen.

Each number appears one at a time, so little hands are never rushed. After every try, we check how neatly the shape was traced and show a friendly score. Two-digit numbers also teach children that 14 is a one and a four standing side by side. Perfect for preschool and kindergarten practice at home or in class.

How to play

  1. Look at the number on the screen and say its name out loud.
  2. Place your finger on the green starting dot.
  3. Slowly follow the dotted line to the end, keeping inside the path. Trace the left digit first, then the right one.
  4. Lift your finger to see your neatness score, then tap next for the following number.

Tracing numbers 11 to 20 builds the fine motor control children need before writing with a pencil. Your child practises number formation, left-to-right direction and correct starting points, while also learning that teen numbers are made of two digits written in a fixed order. Saying each number aloud links the spoken word, the written symbol and the hand movement, which strengthens early maths memory. The instant neatness score keeps children motivated and shows you exactly which numbers need another round. Short sessions of five to ten minutes, a few times a week, work far better than one long sitting.

Frequently asked questions

What age is this number tracing activity for?
It suits children aged about four to six, once they can already recognise numbers 1 to 10. Younger children can still enjoy the finger movement, and older children who reverse digits can use it as quick handwriting revision.
Does my child need a stylus or pencil?
No. A finger on a touchscreen works perfectly, and a mouse or trackpad works on a computer. A stylus is optional and can feel closer to real pencil writing for children who are ready for it.
Why do teen numbers confuse young children?
Numbers like 13 and 14 are spoken with the ones digit first but written with the tens digit first. Tracing slowly, while saying the number name, helps children match what they hear with what they write.
What score counts as a good trace?
A score of sixty per cent or more means the trace stayed mostly on the dotted path. Neatness improves with repetition, so encourage your child to retry a number rather than aiming for a perfect score first time.
Is this activity really free?
Yes. All tracing activities on Kids Learning App are free to use in your browser, with no download and no sign-up needed, so parents and teachers can start practising straight away.
