Find the Pronoun in Each Sentence
Pronouns are small words that do a big job. Instead of saying "Riya took Riya's bag", we say "She took her bag". Words like I, you, he, she, it, we, they, me, us and them stand in place of naming words.
In this free activity, your child reads a short, friendly sentence and taps the pronoun hiding inside it. Some sentences have one pronoun, and some have two. Each answer comes with a simple reason, so children slowly learn to spot pronouns on their own while reading and writing at school or at home.
How to play
- Read the sentence out loud, slowly and clearly.
- Look at the question above it, such as "Tap the pronoun" or "Tap the two pronouns".
- Tap the word (or words) that take the place of a person, animal or thing.
- Read the short explanation, then move on to the next sentence.
This activity helps children understand one of the most useful parts of speech. By tapping pronouns inside real sentences, your child learns that words like he, she, it, we and they replace naming words, so sentences do not sound repetitive. Children also practise careful reading, because a pronoun can sit at the start, middle or end of a sentence. Over time this supports clearer writing, better comprehension and smoother speaking. At home, you can extend the learning by saying a sentence with a name in it and asking your child to say it again using a pronoun.
