Reading every day feels even better when it ends with a little cheer. In this free activity, your child types their name, chooses how many stars they have collected for reading, and a bright Super Reader certificate appears on the screen.

It works well after story time, a page of a picture book, a reading worksheet, or ten minutes of quiet reading. Print the certificate and stick it on the fridge, a study wall, or a reading corner, or simply save it on the screen. Teachers can make one for each child in the class in just a few seconds.

How to play

  1. Type your name in the name box, exactly as you would like it printed.
  2. Choose the number of stars you earned for reading today or this week.
  3. Look at your certificate on the screen and read the message out loud.
  4. Print it or save it, then colour the border and put it on display.

This simple activity builds reading motivation in a gentle way. Children practise typing their own name letter by letter, which strengthens letter recognition, spelling of their name and early keyboard skills. Counting and choosing stars gives light number practice, and reading the printed message aloud adds sight-word reading. Most of all, a certificate turns effort into something your child can see and feel proud of, which helps build a daily reading habit. Use it weekly rather than every day so it stays special, and talk about what your child read to earn the stars. Teachers can print a set for the whole class.

Frequently asked questions

Is this certificate activity free to use?
Yes, it is completely free. There is no sign-up and no payment. Type a name, pick the stars and print or save the certificate as many times as you like, at home or in a classroom.
What age is the Super Reader certificate best for?
It suits children aged about 5 to 8 who are reading simple books or sentences. Younger children can still enjoy it after listening to a story, with a parent helping to type the name.
Can I print certificates for a whole class?
Yes. Type one child's name, print the certificate, then change the name and print again. Many teachers prepare a small set before a reading week or end-of-term celebration.
How many stars should I give my child?
There is no fixed rule. Many parents give one star for each book, chapter or ten minutes of reading, then print the certificate at the end of the week when the stars add up.
Do you save my child's name anywhere?
No personal details are stored. The name you type is only used to show the certificate on your own screen, and it disappears when you close or refresh the page.
